The Beginning of our Mentor/Mentee Friendship by Dayna Vital - Part 1
Certain moments in our lives are serendipitous, where something happens to us happily by chance. Meeting Colleen was one of those moments for me. It was a Thursday morning, back in February of this year, I was working the early shift as a Front Desk Agent at Sole Miami Resort. I needed a little pick-me-up, so I went upstairs to the restaurant to get some green tea. I could have just gone downstairs to the back office to drink it, but the breathtaking beach view was so spectacular, I decided to go to the balcony to enjoy my tea for a few minutes instead. Hence where I met Colleen, with her cup of coffee in one hand and her camera in the other, snapping away at the stunning morning beach view. The golden sun spread out evenly over the beachgoers like a canopy. The point where the blue sky meets the ocean line was a soft, even, monochromatic shade of aqua-teal. And a brisk breeze, gently combing through our hair, was a refreshing breath of air, as we got acquainted.
At first, I thought she was a guest, so I initiated the conversation. I was instantly drawn to her camera and curious to know what she does for a living.
We hit it off quickly and exchanged contact information. When Colleen mentioned that she is a branding photographer living in Boca Raton, FL, and manages the Social Media posts as an independent contractor for Noble House Resorts, I was even more intrigued. I said, “ I could use her expertise in that area,” and she said, “let’s keep in touch and I will share a few social media tips and tricks with you.” From that moment, I knew Colleen would be a valuable contact and friend.
